my dear college friends are all at compulsory LAN classes right now, and oh, i do feel some sympathy...
i am faced with the prospect of spending the weekend in kl, but the catch is that my friends are alll busy/working/out of the state this weekend so it's just me and this depressingly empty apartment.
I was thinking of spending my saturday back in subang, really... breakfast at the oh-so-familiar starbucks, in SS15, then walking along the streets i used to live in... re-exploring Taylors and the quaint little fruit shops and bakeries and the many boutiques upstairs where we'd occasionally find such gorgeous clothes. A long, lesuirely walk back up to Subang Parade, or maybe i'll catch a cab to Pyramid, like we used to during lunchbreaks in college. And then we'd sit on the AsiaCafe deck (petaling street does not have such cool places to eat) and order those handmade spicy noodles i love so much. Mmmm, and that red-bean thingy for dinner. And then go upstairs to AsiaClub for pool, or at least to watch the hot boys play pool...
My other, also quite tantalizing option was to go back to Bangsar and spend the day shopping at Bangsar Village, and again, all those super-cool boutiques (where i bought my really strappy shoes) and after shopping all day, dinner (sticky-date pudding!) at Delicious, (cause muizz asyik tak nak ikut aku makan there). And then, we'll stop by one of the cooler pubs for a drink, cause frankly, i find it slighly pathetic that since i have turned eighteen i haven't had a single drink, and i want a sangria. And then we'd watch people and laugh and drink.
LMAO, i just realized i kept saying "we" in the paragraphs above. I kept imagining both situations with my friends, sigh... Neither sound appealing if it's just me. And my annoyingly unavalible friends are just that... i still love them.. but... *mutters incoherently*
option number three. Home. Carol. The beach. The club. My cats. Sunsets. Shopping with mummy.
there, decided.

our names have become one of those things you where people don't say one or the other, they say both.
i smile and stick out my tongue and roll my eyes, but on the inside, i love it.

a food post, cause i'm hungry.
this post is for my best friend who was showing off today about eating at a mamak, like an annoying expatriate/tourist... but whom i miss anyway (yes, you)
when in doubt at a mamak restaurant/stall, order mee goreng (or that's what i thought)
trust me, i have lived long enough to tell you that not all mamak stalls are equal and good.
sherene's comments about mamak food.
1) Kurang manis often means your drink will taste just about normal. Leave this important order out and you might as well just ask for a glass of sugar suspension.
2) Seafood is obscenely overcharged... for a few pesky minuscule curried prawns, you pay what a small fortune. My advice? skip it and save the cash for REAL seafood, where your prawns are crisp and fried and dipped in mysteriously cool sauces.
3) Fried rice is a very risky dish, best left to chinese and malay stalls. I am particularly picky about fried rice and have found that in most mamaks, it is just kicap-ish with occasional eggy bits and if you're lucky, the odd piece of chicken, streaked with chilli sauce to hide the taste.
4)Tabletops will be sticky with residual coffee from the previous customers. Learn to enjoy it, it's part of the experience.
5) Roti canai has evolved over the years. I know this one mamak place that boasts over fifty varieties. I like mine classic, thanks. I am still hinting and whingeing for someone to take me to SS2 to eat the roti canai there, which is aparently pretty epic.
6) stray cats! i plead guilty to feeding them all my meat in the dish if i see one.
7) the best mamak i have ever eaten at, where they make epic, EPIC nasi goreng and sup kambing and ABC, is in PD, at the jetty, where the customs are... ask me and i'll take you. Hassan's in SS15, Subang is also reasonably cool... a mamak that makes, along with all the usual malaysian dishes, pizza and lasagna and spaghetti and doesn't fuck it up. Worth the extra walk from my apartment.
also, on an unrelated note.. PMS is being a bitch.

updates.. quick ones, though, because i need to finish my Literature paper.
i moved into my new apartment in brickfields, and it's taking some getting used to, but i quite like it, i really do.
my new roommate, michelle, is really quite cool.... she's funny and bubbly and is up for late-night talks and actual breakfast in the mornings before class.. i'm feeling quite lucky i'm rooming with someone so likeable.
i just spent the evening drinking the most amazing lychee-watermelon-lemon-sorbet mix, (Muizz, i keep TELLING you about Juiceworks) watching the fountains at KLCC park, sitting next to the boy who pretty much has my heart right now, i am so happy
i switched to Dove shampoo and conditioner, and am thrilled at the (softer, shinier) effects, yay.
i do realize i need to stop this annoying single sentence blogging style and give you all something real to read, maybe later tonight.
due to my huge lack of female friends, i am on a guy-diet, (mc flurry and fries and eating when we want) and this is ceasing to be cool. i had a mixed fruit salad today as a concession to healthiness, but i should probably start eating better soon.
i have watched more movies this month alone that i have all of last year, collectively.
literature essay, here i come (and then, i PROMISE i'll blog a nice, long one)

my friends say such epic things
"...it is something that takes you back, holds you in your seat, leans on your shoulder, brushes against your lips and stays embedded in your heart for the longest time..."
-sanjay put this beautifully, i couldn't have said it better...
